Movie Review: Blue Valentine(2010)

I saw this movie when it first came out. It was one that I was not sure about, but at the time I was going through an area where I was watching movies that were considered award show contenders. Blue Valentine, starring Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling was one of those movies. I did not quite understand the film with my first watch, but on my second watch I got it.

This film is the story of a relationship from the beginning to the end and everything in between. It is told mostly at the end of the relationship, but with flashbacks of how they got together and grew apart. This movie is not for everybody, I must stress that. This is in my opinion an artsy movie. It is a movie for people that love movies and storytelling. If you are not into that you may not like it. If you are interested in the story of a true relationship, give it watch, and you will not regret it. Also, Williams was nominated for an Oscar for her performance.

Movie Review: Double Jeopardy(1999)

I have watch this moved about 3 or 4 times, and I love it almost every time. Double Jeopardy, introduce me to double jeopardy the law. The story about a wife being framed for the murder of her husband, but he is not dead. The story is a little complicated, but it was good. At least I think it was good for what it is. This is the first movie that I saw with Ashley Judd, and I must say she was good in this movie. Tommy Lee Jones, I knew him, but I never really watched anything that he was in before.

I would say this is a movie to watch if there is nothing else to watch and you want to be thrilled and need a little mystery in your life. I would give this movie a solid 3 out 5 stars. The reason I am saying this is there is a lot going on, but there is still room to make this movie better. This movie is currently on Netflix, so you watch at any time.

Movie Review: What’s Love Got to Do with It(1993)

This movie must be one of my all times favorite. I have watched this movie almost 50 times. What’s Love Got to Do with It, is a movie that I think is a staple in a black child’s life. I know that sounds strange, but it is a movie that me and family watch all the time. This movie introduced me to Tina Turner, and I am forever grateful for that. This movie is the story of Tina Turner’s life, and it is truly breathtaking. My only problem with the movie is that I wish the movie were a little bit longer. There is so much that was missing and things I wanted to learn more about. I eventually learn them on my own, but I think they needed to be told.

This is a movie that everybody must see, and I just love this movie. Angela Bassett and Lawrence Fishburne did not play Ike and Tina, they were Ike and Tina. They both deserved everything that they got with these roles. Watch this movie whenever you get a chance, and you will not regret it.
