Movie Review: The Forty-Year-Old-Version(2020)

This movie came out last year, and I think it is one of the best to come out of the year 2020. The Forty-Year-Old- Version, tells a story that is so relatable that anybody would understand it. The film stars and is directed by Radha Blank, and she is brilliant in it. This is also her debut which makes it even more special to me. This is not your average film about trying to make it. This is one that shows how hard it is to make it and keep it.

I am not going to give the story away, but it hits home for me for the fact that I understand what she is going through with her career. If you are a struggling artist, you will understand. There is a lot of stuff that I am going through with mine that I just cannot seem to get together. I would recommend that everybody go to Netflix and watch this film. This is not a movie for kids. I would give this an 8 out 10. You will thank me later.

Movie Review: Set it Off(1996)

This film must be in the top 15 movies that I absolutely love. Set it off, has to be one of the most underrated films that came out in the 1990’s. The film stars Jada Pinkett, Queen Latifah, Vivica Foxx, and Kimberly Ellis. It is about a group of women who are upset with everything that is going on around them that they want to escape. Not only their neighborhood, but also their lives. The only way that they can do is to get money, and there is only one way to do it is to rob a bank.

I have seen this movie at least 20 times, and it still holds up after all these years. I do not know anybody that has not seen this movie, and if you have not you should go watch as soon as you can. It is sad, but it is a journey that is worth taking. I would give this film a 7.5 out 10. There is so much more that can be done to make this movie better that is why I am giving them that score.

Movie Review: Inside out(2015)

I watch this movie a couple of years ago, and the message has stayed with me. Inside out, must be in the top 15 of greatest animated movies of all time. I saw this movie and immediately started thinking about my life, and everything that I was going through at the time. The story is not just for kids, I would go on say this is movie for everyone.

This voice acting is great also. They had me lost inside this world and not wanting to come out. This story is about all the emotions we all go through but is told from the experiences of the emotions sort of. It is about little girl who is I would say about to be a teenager, and her world gets turned upside day. We go though the emotions of that experience.

I would give this movie and 8 out of 10. This is great family film, and one that we all could learn a lot from with everything that is going on today.

Movie Review: Nightcrawler(2014)

This movie is all over the place for me. Nightcrawler, is a movie about a person who goes out to the scenes of an accident or crime films it and sells the footage to the local news. Then one night he sees something that is horrible, and he records it and trying to figure out what to. There is a bunch more stuff going on, but that the main point. I must say the only reason I watch this film was because I had just graduated with a journalism degree, and I was into almost any and everything about the news. That has changed a little for me, but it was weird time.

This stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Rene Russo; they are the main two people. If news is your thing, then I would strongly suggest that you watch this film, just for the antics. It is an okay film, that is if you like something that gives you a trill. If I was to give this film a score out of ten, I would give it solid 6. That is not bad, it just starts off kind of weird to me. I would still watch it if nothing else was available.

Also I have been trying this thing where I see if I post something for 50 days straight, and I am almost done!

Movie Review: Blue Valentine(2010)

I saw this movie when it first came out. It was one that I was not sure about, but at the time I was going through an area where I was watching movies that were considered award show contenders. Blue Valentine, starring Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling was one of those movies. I did not quite understand the film with my first watch, but on my second watch I got it.

This film is the story of a relationship from the beginning to the end and everything in between. It is told mostly at the end of the relationship, but with flashbacks of how they got together and grew apart. This movie is not for everybody, I must stress that. This is in my opinion an artsy movie. It is a movie for people that love movies and storytelling. If you are not into that you may not like it. If you are interested in the story of a true relationship, give it watch, and you will not regret it. Also, Williams was nominated for an Oscar for her performance.
