Movie Review: Crazy/Beautiful(2001)

This is a movie that I saw years ago. It must have been almost 18 years since I saw this film for the first time. I just remember wanting to see this because of the actors. The film Bring it on, had just came out and it was very popular, and this actress was in it. The actress is Kirsten Dunst, and I was just starting to understand what exactly movies and acting were. I was about 10 at the time so everything was new to me.

The movie Crazy/Beautiful, seemed like it would be a good movie. I think that it was a great film. I have not seen this film in few years, but it always catches my attention when I see something about it. The story is a classic teenage love story girl likes boy, parents hates boy and tries to break them up you know the drill.

This is an okay film; the acting is great, and the story is good. This is a film that is good if want to just sit on the couch and chill and get a little distracted with the world. This is a film that is mostly for young adults so take that at your own will. Kristen Dunst and Jay Hernandez are great in their roles.

I would give this film a solid 6 out of 10. It is okay, but there is a lot more that could have been told.

Movie Review: 20 Feet from Stardom(2013)

A lot of people do not know that I truly love to watch documentaries. I prefer them to film majority of the time. A documentary that I have watch at least 5 times is 20 Feet from Stardom, which is about background singers. This movie is about how people that are singing background for some of the biggest artist, and some who once wanted to be a lead, but they never made the jump to stardom. They have tried, but they just never became successful.

This hits home to me for many reasons, one of them being a person that has always wanted to tell stories, but never quite able to follow that dream. If you are a dreamer this will hit you hard, but you must continue chasing that dream.  It will happen, but it may not be they way you want it to be.

I would give this a documentary an 8 out of 10. That is high for me, and I think anybody that watch this documentary you would say the same.

Movie Review: What’s Eating Gilbert Grape(1993)

I have seen this film maybe three times, and each time I have learn something new. What’s Eating Gilbert Grape came out in 1993, and it still hold today. This is a film that I think sticks with you, at least that is what it did for me. To watch and see how everything is and how they are treated is heartbreaking. This is stuff that happens all the time, but people do not talk about it.

If you are looking for a movie to make you think I highly recommend that you watch this film. You will leave asking questions that you may not ever think to ask. The cast Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio are great. They show a range that is not like any other from people at there age. I would give this movie 7 out 10.

Movie Review: Good Will Hunting(1997)

I must say I have watched this movie at least 5 times, and every time I enjoyed it. I do not know what it is about this film that I like, but every time I see it somewhere I watch it. Good Will Hunting, is one the films that you can watch no matter what is going on, at least that is how it is for me. I did not know what this film was going to be about when I first watch it, but it turned out being great.

This was one of the films that made me want to write a screenplay one day, and to tell a story that is like this. This film stars Robin Williams and Matt Damon, Damon also happens to be one of the writers of this along with Ben Affleck. I think the story telling is great they draw into this world where we all think that we know someone, but we really do not.

I would give this film a 7 out 10 and say that everyone should at least give this film a try.

Movie Review: The Forty-Year-Old-Version(2020)

This movie came out last year, and I think it is one of the best to come out of the year 2020. The Forty-Year-Old- Version, tells a story that is so relatable that anybody would understand it. The film stars and is directed by Radha Blank, and she is brilliant in it. This is also her debut which makes it even more special to me. This is not your average film about trying to make it. This is one that shows how hard it is to make it and keep it.

I am not going to give the story away, but it hits home for me for the fact that I understand what she is going through with her career. If you are a struggling artist, you will understand. There is a lot of stuff that I am going through with mine that I just cannot seem to get together. I would recommend that everybody go to Netflix and watch this film. This is not a movie for kids. I would give this an 8 out 10. You will thank me later.
